[Extract from Address to Students of Delhi University by Param Guru Sahabji Maharaj] "
The teaching of Dayalbagh is directed towards the opening of the inner eye , and he who is successful in developing latent spiritual powers in the slightest degree becomes a changed man .. With the acquiring of higher consciousness , he gains a real experience of religion and of the real teaching of religion . For there is no conception without perception . We must have concrete experience of a unit of spirituality without which we cannot understand what the individual Spirit or the Universal Spirit is .
Suppose we have never had experience of sweet taste . How can we imagine what sweet dishes are ? But if we put even the smallest crystal of sugar on our tongue , we can magnify that experience and imagine what sweet dishes must be like . In a like manner the moment the inner eye is opened we know what is spirit , what is the teaching of the Rishis and what have we got to do . " " Dayalbagh seeks to demonstrate that it was not because of religion that decadence set in and that ( on the contrary ) religion makes us most useful members of Society . Ignorance and not religion has brought about degradation . Per contra by awakening our latent spiritual powers we bless not only ourselves but others also . In particular , our pendulum becomes steady , the moment we are blessed with religious experience..If we taste the bliss of the inner life even feebly , we become eternally intoxicated and become immune to the disturbing effects of the vicissitudes of life . "*
